Sunday Yoga Church 10/16: Hip Hip HOORAY!
A well rounded flow that weaves plenty of core work and Malasana (yoga squat) and Utkatasana (fierce/chair pose) variations in between simple, smooth, steady repetition of sun salutations and Warrior Pose Flows. Journey into Hip Openers in all directions: Supta Virasana (reclining Hero), Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (one legged pigeon pose), Triang mukhaikapada paschimottanasana (forward fold with one leg in Virasana), Janu Sirsasana, Adductor Stretches, Ardha Bhekasana (Half Frog Pose), Danurasana (Bow Pose) and Hanumansasana (splits). Options are given for deepening twists, and backbends, and the elusive Parsva Bhuja Dandasana (Grasshopper Pose) arm balance. You will get nice and warm in your body before moving into a slow finishing set of propped up hip openers to deepen our exploration: from Supta Baddha Konasana to Prone Baddha Konasana to Lotus in Bridge Pose we will explore the pairing of hip external rotation and extension that releases deep bound energy at the juncture of the leg and spine flushing and opening the abdomen and hip flexors with renewed circulation and spaciousness.
